This notice is to explain why personal data is collected and used within the context of this website. As part of new European Data Protection Regulations I am required to do this
The purpose of this website is to give you the information you need to assess whether acupuncture might be a suitable treatment for you. You may then choose whether to contact me by phone, letter or email for further information. I then have a legitimate interest in obtaining from you sufficient information to further assess your suitability for treatment and your contact information.
Emails are stored in my password protected account until either you have become a client and consent to a privacy notice relating to my clinic or until it is clear you do not wish to become a client. They will then be deleted. Ongoing communications through the website are regularly deleted having been printed and added to your paper clinic file only if necessary,
Should you go on to make an appointment then, as part of your first consultation, I will give you a formal written privacy notice which details:
What information I collect and why
How it is stored and protected
How your right to be forgotten is implemented
As a sole trader my arrangements for your information should anything render me incapable.
I give you this notice at the first appointment so that I am available to answer any queries you have about it. Should you wish to have sight of the notice prior to your first consultation then please advise me of this and how you would like it to be communicated to you. From the point of your first consultation all your personal data and clinical notes are stored in paper files kept in secure cabinets. I am legally required to retain these for 8 years from your last appointment or until the age of 25, whichever is the later. After these points your file will be destroyed.
Emails are stored in my password protected account until either you have become a client and consent to the privacy notice or until it is clear you do not wish to become a client. They will then be deleted. Ongoing communications through the website are regularly deleted having been printed and added to your paper clinic file only if necessary,
I am the only person to have access to your information and I am your point of contact should you have any concerns about the protection of your personal information. Should you then feel those concerns have not been adequately addressed you can also raise the matter with the Information Commissioner's Office on https:ico.org.uk/concerns/
I do not use the information provided through this website for marketing purposes without your permission and it will not be shared with a third party without your permission. Whilst I make every effort to ensure that any link you should follow from this site follows good data protection practice, it is your responsibility to ensure they handle your data appropriately.
